We have found that making a remote-control robot car is just one step away from our personal ECG! Here are capture images of the robot car we made. The wireless control is a very easy job with the serial Bluetooth modem described in the previous news. The robot car mechanism is inspired by the Boe-Bot made by Parallax.

The car runs on three-wheels; a free one is a small castor used in furniture, and the two drive wheels are continous rotation servos obtained from Parallax. Rotation of the servos are controlled by PWMs delivered from the PSoC. By adjusting the PWM signals to the right and the left servos, the car can go forward, backward, right or left.

The chassis is a universal plate obtained from Tamiya (parts page). The wheels are a narrow tire set (58mm diameter) also from them. The construction was very simple as shown in the picture below. The cost was as low as our pocket money can afford. More importantly, it was fun to make a robot!
